ClickFunnels Review Honest Review (2020)

“Ultimately, the business that can spend the most to acquire a customer wins”
– Dan Kennedy

This quote really stuck out for me when I first read Russell Brunson’s book DotComSecrets.  Essentially, what that quote represents is that to expand your business you need to have quality sales funnels.

By creating a quality sales funnel it shows that you are professional, an authority and that you have a good work ethic which in turn makes shows your customers that hey, this person is someone who I can trust.  With that trust and that relationship that you build with each customer they become a lifelong customer.

After completing the book, Russell had me completely convinced that I absolutely needed to start building sales funnels for each of my products.

The concept of a sales funnel is extremely powerful and is one that I quickly implemented in my business

I believe that this software is truly exceptional which is why I’m going to take you on a in depth review of ClickFunnels, my favorite software for creating sales and marketing funnels.

That’s not to say that it’s perfect, and in this ClickFunnels review, and while there are some limitations I want you to be able to make an informed decision whether or not this is for you

Why You Should Be Creating Your Own Sales Funnels

Before diving into the ClickFunnels software itself, it’s extremely important to know why having a funnel is crucial to creating maximum profits.

The first reason is that once a prospect goes into your sales funnel, they are your customers for life.  This is because any funnel that is worth its weight will be collecting your prospects email addresses..

After adding their email to your list, you can then start preselling your customers about products or services you want them to purchase. Russell recommends coming up with a soap opera sequence which will build up your lead’s trust in you, and get them more willing to purchase.

Ok, so you have your prospects email address but you haven’t quite converted them into a paying customer yet! Well this is where the sales page comes in.  Essentially, the sales page is where you lay out all your cards on the table so to speak.  The sole purpose of the sales page is to get your prospect to buy.  There are three things you absolutely need in a good sales page.

First, you need an eye catching headline. This immediately focuses their attention and summarizes a problem that they need solving or something that they can gain.

Second, you need images or video. The phrase “a picture is worth a thousand words” is so true that we don’t realize how much emphasis we place on visual stimuli.  By incorporating a picture or video in our sales page we have an easy way to establish how we want our prospect to be feeling as well as establishing a sense of trust with the prospect.

Finally, and bullet points describing the benefits that get the visitor excited and helps you close the sale.

For the customers that input their credit card and purchase, you can then give them 1 or more One Time Offers (OTOs), upsells and downsells.

This step is how you maximize the profit you make from each customer, and how you can really explode your business.

Let’s say you are able to convert 10% of your customers selling a $20 MMA gloves which gets you $5 in profit after fees. For every 100 visitors, you would average 10 sales and earn $50 in profit.

But what if you were able to upsell 30% of your customers into purchasing your $20  MMA video and 10% of your customers into signing up for your $497 a year MMA course.

Now, for every 100 visitors, you would sell 10 MMA gloves, 3 MMA videos, and 1 MMA course. You’ve now made $697 in profit, an incredible 1294% increase.

That is why Dan Kennedy’s quote at the beginning of this review is so relevent. By increasing your profit margins you can then outspend your competitors on ads to get people into your sales funnel.

The more visitors you get, the more money you will earn.

Heck i'll give you your own sales funnel to try out!  There are many different variations that you can build to suit your specific business.

Does this sound difficult to implement?  Yes, it can be.

But this is where ClickFunnels comes in. ClickFunnels was specifically developed to make it easy to create sales funnels so you don’t have to know code or programming in order to create a high quality sales funnel.

Part 1: What are a few of my favorite features of ClickFunnels?

Awesome Feature #1: Funnel template blueprints

If this is your first time creating a sales funnel  then ClickFunnels has you covered.

Russell has identified 22 unique types types of funnels that he has personally used successfully in his own business.

There are three main funnel categories.  Lead Capture FunnelsSales Page Funnels, and Event Funnels. But there are some other unique funnels like membership funnels you can make as well.

From a simple funnel such as the Squeeze Page Funnel which sole purpose is to collects a visitor’s email address and then sends them to a Thank you page when signing up.

For the more advanced sales funnel you can use the 2-Step Trip Wire Funnel which sells a low ticket front-end product (your tripwire) and then upsells them to your more expensive products using Order Form bumps, and One Click upsells or Downsells.

Also, each type of funnel has its own set of free templates and paid templates. So even if you are terrible at designing, your funnel pages will all have a quality professional element to them.

Here’s the process of how to launch your first funnel:

  1. Choose a funnel type.
  2. Select a template.
  3. Customize each section to your business.
  4. Set up your products and make sure all your email and payment integrations are set up.
  5. Link a domain name with your new funnel.
  6. Save your funnel.

Congratulations! Your sales funnel is now up and running and you can start sending traffic to it.

Awesome Feature #2: Fantastic and Simple Visual Drag and Drop Editor

While ClickFunnels gives you a great starting point with its funnel and page templates, the ClickFunnels editor is where you can really shine.  You can make really make each page in your funnel unique to your style.

When using ClickFunnels, the sections are laid out in such a way which is easy and simple to navigate.  You can have any number of rows and columns as well as use the mouse to drag and drop elements around and place them wherever you want. The layout is extremely flexible and can be used to create pretty much any design you want.

What is especially nice about this editor is that each part pairs and transitions well.  So it will be a seemless experience when choosing components on the page and moving them. Text elements can be edited inline, and modifying any element’s properties can be done through the fly-out sidebar.

Also, unlike other editors, everything is organized in a logical way.  You’re not spending a lot of time searching for this or that.

The great thing is that no coding is required. You won’t have to spend hours learning and going through tutorials just so your funnel will run smoothly

Awesome Feature #3: Huge Selection of Page Elements

Elements (or widgets) are necessary for allowing you the flexibility to design the exact pages you want.  Luckily, ClickFunnels gives you a wide variety of them to use in creating your funnels.

Basic elements include Headline, Image, Text, Button, Input forms and Video widgets. These are the core building blocks for any landing page you build in the software.

ClickFunnels also has advanced elements like:

  • SMS Signup
  • Surveys
  • Pricing Tables
  • Progress Bars
  • Facebook Comments
  • FAQ Blocks
  • Countdown Timers
  • Custom HTML

In addition, there are specialized elements like Membership elements for memberships pages and order and shipping form elements for your order pages.

Every element is easily customized in the editor sidebar. With the majority of  elements, you can change common properties like background colors, margins, fonts, and alignment.

Awesome Feature #4: Share your funnels with your friends and clients (and earn some extra money)

Inside the Settings tab of any of your funnels, you can grab your Share Funnel URL.

When someone visits this URL, they will be able to use this funnel directly in their account if they are an existing ClickFunnels member. If they aren’t using ClickFunnels yet, they can sign up for the ClickFunnels 14-day free trial and then get your funnel added to their account.

What’s really amazing is that this share url also acts as your affiliate link, and you will get a recurring commission if this new user ends up staying on.

Here are a few ways to make some extra money with this.

You could become a ClickFunnels specialist in a specific niche and create sales funnels and partner with small businesses in that niche.  Also, these funnels that you create can also be sold to other ClickFunnel users in the marketplace.

Sales funnels also make great lead magnets or bonuses in many niches. They are a great way to get your readers into your own funnel by offering something valuable they can use themselves.

Quite frankly, the opportunities are endless with this, and a lot of people are making good money with ClickFunnels by taking advantage of this share funnels feature.

Awesome Feature #5: Awesome Onboarding process

Trying to understand all that ClickFunnels can offer and do may seem overwhelming at first. But this is helped by the most impressive on-boarding process I’ve seen in a software product.

When you first sign up, you’re given  the 7-day challenge. It consists of 4 different simple games with each one having a number of steps to complete. Every step features a task and a short video clip of Russell explaining what you have to do to finish it.

The first game shows you the process of building your own Hero Funnel, while the 2nd and 3rd games introduce you to the Funnel Cookbook and the Funnel University. Finally, the last game is a Launch Checklist that walks you through everything you need to have before having your funnel published.

Although the whole process is simple and straightforward you can win some prizes such as a Clickfunnels t-shirt and some stickers.

I found the whole process to be incredibly valuable.  It’s essentially an interactive ClickFunnels tutorial where you learn how to use ClickFunnels itself and the philosophy and value of using the software for your own business.

I highly recommend you go through it first when you sign up as it will make understanding ClickFunnels a lot easier.

Part 2: What I don’t like about ClickFunnels?

#1: Adding a funnel is so slow

After you choose your funnel and template type, you have to add it to your account.

For whatever reason, this takes around 8-10 seconds every time. While I don’t know what is happening on the technical side of things, it is a little strange that it would take this long. It’s a bit frustrating, but more of a minor inconvenience.

#2: Limits on funnels you can create and visitors

On the $97 dollar plan (their cheapest plan) ClickFunnels limits you to 20 funnels, 100 pages, and 20,000 visitors.  I really dislike that I’m limited considering I’m paying a monthly subscription; however, if you are just building funnels for yourself and not for clients then it is probably all right.

You may get more annoyed at these limitations if you are doing work for a client or creating funnels for multiple customers.

#3: Steep learning curve

The sheer amount of what ClickFunnels can do is pretty huge, and can definitely be intimidating. That’s why so much focus was put into the onboarding process to help ease you into the software. The ClickFunnels interface is fairly well designed for the most part and once you’ve started building a few funnels yourself, the whole process does get easier.

Part 3: ClickFunnels Pricing

Over time, ClickFunnels has expanded their pricing plans. At first, they had 3 different pricing tiers, but they have now been condensed into 2 separate plans.

The cheapest ClickFunnels plan is $97 a month. On this plan, you get access to all the funnel creation tools, but you are limited to creating 20 funnels, 100 pages, and 20,000 visitors. You also won’t have access to Actionetics, which is their their built-in email service provider and auto responder and Backpack, which allows you to start your own affiliate program.

To get access to that, you’ll need to go with the Etison Suite plan. It includes everything, plus you get unlimited funnels, pages, and visitors. However, this beast of a system will run you $297 a month.

As far as I know, there are no ClickFunnels coupon codes available. However, you can go to pay yearly and get a 16% ClickFunnels discount. So basically you would be getting 2 months free.

However, ClickFunnels does make it easy for you to see if their service is for you.  With their free, 14-day free trial. It gives you full access to their software which lets you really try out and explore their service.

Part 4: Everything else you need to know about ClickFunnels

How is their support?

ClickFunnels support is decently good from what I have experienced. They use Intercom, so you can directly ask questions in the live chat box. Support requests are often answered within a few hours and I found the staff to pretty knowledgeable and helpful. However, due to how many requests they get you may end up waiting for a few hours or days before your problem gets fixed.

Do I need my own domain name?

While you don’t need your own domain name to launch a funnel,  I would recommend it. If you don’t have one then your funnel url will look something like

One awesome bonus that I didn’t know about is that ClickFunnels will buy you your first domain name for free and even set up SSL on it for you. You can learn how to do this from the first game in the onboarding training.

Do they have an active community?

ClickFunnels has a massive community. There’s the official group on FB with over 100k members and the ClickFunnels Avengers FB group (for affiliates) that has over 30k members.

Both groups are extremely active and it’s a great place to get answers for any sales, design or traffic related questions you may have.

What integrations do they offer?

Even though ClickFunnels has its own email service provider via Actionetics, it also integrates seamlessly with all the best email service providers out there.

For payment gateways, ClickFunnels integrates with Stripe, Paypal, Clickbank, Infusionsoft, and a few others. The one limitation with using Paypal though is that it does not support One Click Upsells or One Time Offers. I would highly recommend going with Stripe if you can.

Is ClickFunnels a scam?

No, ClickFunnels is not a scam.  ClickFunnels is 100% legitimate.

It’s an amazing software and an amazing affiliate opportunity. I’ve used ClickFunnels myself to help small businesses and I’m currently using it to market various affiliate promotions.

Some people might be suspicious of the quality of the program because they see so many people promoting ClickFunnels and think figure it’s over-hyped. Try it out for yourself first then make your decision.

Do they have an affiliate program?

ClickFunnels/Russell has one of the best affiliate programs out there. They pay recurring income for every ClickFunnels user you refer and you can receive awesome bonuses like having ClickFunnels pay for your dream car if you get to a certain number of referrals every month.

They also have a 2-tier affiliate program for referring people to the ClickFunnels affiliate program.  You can earn 5% commissions on all sales when people  sign up under you.

How Do I Take Advantage Of ClickFunnels?

First, you need to have a product or service to sell. If you are not sure of what you want to sell then research whatever you think will be profitable and then promote it.  Do this Before you sign up with ClickFunnels..

Next, you need to be willing to put the  time, money and effort into shaping your message and building out your entire sales funnel.

That means at the minimum you have to create a lead magnet or low-cost tripwire product to get customers into your funnel. Don’t forget if you really want to maximize your profits you should also be coming up with relevant upsells, order bumps and other OTOs that complement or enhance your main product offering.

If you’re not sure how to start, take a look at Russell’s own multi-million dollar sales funnels to inspire you. Read his book DotComSecrets where he explains exactly the why and how of creating sales funnels and how to tell stories to sell your products.

When you go through his own sales funnels yourself you can see how he goes from low-cost tripwire (DotComSecrets) to selling his flagship product (ClickFunnels).

By creating his own community he is able to establish trust and build a relationship which increases the conversion rate of upsells and other products that he offers.

Which software you go with depends on your requirements and the amount of work you are willing to invest in your business.

Although many of you are selling standalone products, are you willing to put in the effort required to create a quality sales funnel?

If not, then ClickFunnels might be not be for you. You can collect leads or sell your front end products more cheaply using alternative services.

However, if creating the lifetime value of your customers sounds valuable to you, then I highly recommend giving ClickFunnels a try. Not only to get access to the software but the training and information they provide you with is practical and easy to implement.

Take advantage of the ClickFunnels 14-day free trial, and see if you can use it to grow your business today.
